Briefly, discuss the differences between ArchaicClassical and Hellenistic
The earliest phase of culture is the archaic period of arts.  This term is used by historians to explain the development of arts in Greece from 650 to 480 BC.  This was the beginning of art. The archaic art is less rigid in terms of style; there is more emphasis on nature. There were paintings on vases with geometrical designs. The geometrical designs were used to depict human figures. There was illustration of epic tales. The faces were animated in sculpture along with a traditional “archaic smile”. There were developments of inonic and Doric orders of architecture. They represented a concern for the harmonious proportion of architecture (Gardner, 2016).

The classics art is derived from the roman and Greek architecture. The principles of roman and Greek architecture were adopted in the classic art in some way or form. The Greek and roman architecture is known for painting, architecture and sculpture. There are variations in each genre. There is a harmony in classical art. A balance and sense of proportion distinguish classic art from archaic and Hellenistic art. There is usage of idealized shapes and figures in sculpture and paintings. The classical art believes subjects as non anecdotal and emotionally neutral (Classicism in Art, 2019).

It is believed that the classical art of the golden era of Greece possess of all the glory, still the Hellenistic era of art is varied, rich and significantly based on humanistic approach. The Hellenistic art was developed after the death of Alexander in 323 BC. Most scholars assert that this art continued to prevail till 31 BC. The most popular and precious sculptures of the world like venus de milo or winged victory of Samothrace was designed in this period. The sculptures were very naturalistic in Hellenistic era. There was an expression on sculptures. The Hellenistic art emphasized on extreme emotions. The Hellenistic artists wanted to show the character of subject by themes, like sleep, suffering, old age, and so on. The Hellenistic art has foundations in the classical Greek art. The classical art focused on gods and religions while Hellenistic art is related to human expressions and forms (Hellenistic Art, 2019).
