Admissions Essay
I have chosen my career goals after thoughtful manner.
Beginning with self-assessment, I tried to find out different career options. I
believe that one should opt for a career which is based on one’s interests.
After research of career choices, I decided to study advertising in this
institution. I studied about the field i.e. advertising before reaching final
decision. Advertising programs give students many opportunities for career.
Those who pursue degree in advertising develop skills like motivation and
persuasion, campaign development, research, digitalizing, critical thinking,
and so on. These skills are useful in other fields apart from advertising.
Students from advertising major gain real world experience. Internships in
different advertising agencies help students get experience. Moreover,
institutes help students polish their skills by creating actual projects for
clients. Students with advertising major can work as an account executive,
media consultant, media sales specialist, copywriter, marketing researcher, and
so on.
In next five or ten years, I see myself working in an
advertising agency as a media sales specialist in New York or Chicago. An
interesting thing is that no one close to me has selected advertising major. My
creativity and ability to generate unique ideas made me interested in this
field. I never take my work as burden and in advertising work is done in a
creative manner. There are different challenges in pursuing this goal. There is
a huge competition among different advertising agencies which makes it
difficult to generate unique ideas which are appealing to the public. To reach
consumers at a right time and right place is also a challenge. My support
system in school includes my family and few close friends who help me get
through difficulties. I value education because it provides us knowledge.
Knowledge and education helps us think rationally and reduce emotional
conflicts. If we get education related to our field of interest, it helps us
grow and accelerate in this area. One cannot reach his/her potential without
getting necessary education. I participate in content writing competitions;
have experience of editing and making digital content, host digital campaigns
for products, and so on. I do these activities outside of school will would
support my career goals.
