Use the INTRODUCTION section in your textbook as a guide for how to write about art works in your essay.
Select ONE art work from Chapter One, ONE art work from Chapter Two, and ONE art work from Chapter Three. Using the Intro. to your textbook, discuss each work you have selected. For example, identify how old it is, what culture it comes from, whether it is two-dimensional or three-dimensional, what it is made of, how it was made (do some research into the techniques or materials), what it was made for (if we know or have theories). Check what things mean before you write about them, use internet searches wisely. This is just a simple exercise in how to look at and how to write about art works. Lastly, mention why you chose each work. After you have identified each of the three works you chose, spend at least one paragraph comparing/contrasting them with one another.

Introduction
This
report is about the artworks that were developed during different times in
history. Different cultures and nations introduced new and advanced technologies
in the field of art. Every art depicts the values, beliefs, and ways of life
used by them. In this report, we have explained the cultures of Egypt, Romans
and Greece. Three of them had many different cultures, but the new kingdom art
of Egyptian culture is explained in this report. Minoan art is explained for
the culture of Greece. And the republican art is explained for the culture of the
Roman Empire. These arts show the cultures of these empires.
The
new Kingdom
The
new kingdom is Egyptian art. The period of this art is from 1069 BC to 1550 BC.
This consists of the time between the 11th and 16th
centuries BC. Three dynasties of Egypt are covered by the new kingdoms that are
18th, 19th and 20th. It came from the culture of Egypt
and was known as the best time of the Egyptian empire. It was two dimensional.
They used to make paintings, sculptures, and Goldsmithing. They used wood,
stone, and ceramics. It was made to represent the status and art of the
Egyptians. The creativity and representation of expressions in this art made me
select this art.
The
Minoans
The
Minoans existed from the period of 2600 BC to 1100 BC. They were one of the
first civilisations of Greek. They used to live on the islands. The Minoans
first spoke the Greek language. They represent the culture of Greece. This art
is two dimensional. The Minoans used to make cravings on stones because they
were living on the island. They created vases and bowls. Soft stones like
serpentine, soapstone and steatite were used in this art. They used these art
pieces for decoration and practical purposes. They used to do painting and make
large palaces. Their freedom of movement is visible in their art by showing
nude male and female.
Republican
Art
This
art had a period of 509 to 27 BCE. It is the art of the Roman Empire. They used
to mix up the art of Greek with their art and brought advancements in Greek
art. They used to build temples and buildings. They were the first ones to
introduce the use of concrete in the construction. They used to make real
portraits of old patricians. Illusionism is the second style of painting
introduced by roman art. I selected this art because it was one of the earliest
art of the Romans.
Comparison
All
of these three cultures used to make statuettes and sculptures in their
artworks. They arose at different times in history and introduced different
materials and styles of art. Paintings and sculptures were made by Egyptian
art. They used the stone to make the sculptures. The Minoans were involved in
making the pottery. They used different stones in their art. The Minoans used
the stones to make large palaces. Republican art brought up the use of concrete
to make buildings and other things. Republican art was the most advanced form
of art amongst the Egyptian and Greece art.
Conclusion
In
this report, the time and art of three different cultures have been explained.
Egyptian, Greece and Roman Empire introduced different ways of making artworks
in history. They were pioneers in different fields of art. Each art shows the
culture of a different time in history. As Romans overruled the art of Greece
and made it more advance. The art that is used today is evolved from ancient
cultures.
