When answering the discussion questions you are required to give
detailed answers. I do not want short one sentence answers, I am looking for
detailed well written answers. Also, the answer to the questions should come
from the reading material (book and powerpoints). However, when responding to
your peers postings that is when you can post your opinion on the subject.
1. Given two equally qualified applicants one from the inside

Solution
1. Given
two equally qualified applicants one from the inside and one from the outside
the organization. How would you decide which one to hire?
Answer:
If I get 2
applications who are equally qualified from both inside and outside then
my preference will be given to the applicants who have applied from inside
because that person will have more experience about operations and functions of
the organization while that employee will be familiar with the organizational
culture, therefore, he/she will not face any problem while adjusting
himself/herself in the current working environment of the company. on the other
hand, if an employee from outside will be selected then he /she will not have
experience and knowledge about the current procedures, function and operations
of the company therefore management will have to bear the training cost of that
company in term of training him/her as per the requirement of current
organizational culture of company
2. What are
the advantages and disadvantages of recruiting through the internet? What
advice would you give to a hospital who is considering using the Internet for
recruiting?
Answer:
The Internet is one of the modem sources of recruiting
employees but its ha certain benefits and disadvantages. the primary benefit of
using the internet a prime medium for hiring is that through this way a large
number of people can apply because it is convenient for people to leave their
CVs on online forms rather than delivering them physically but the disadvantage
is that on the internet a lot of fake employees can apply from fake profiles.
In such circumstances, there is a need of use of a formal online forum for
hiring purposes to avoid fake profiles and fabricated applications from
anonymous applicants because management
of a hospital requires such applications who are credible ones
3. It has often been stated that people do not leave
jobs they leave supervisors. What does this mean and why is it important?
Answer
Yes, it is a fact that people do not leave jobs but
supervisors because people always wish to work in such an environment where
efforts are acknowledged and management reward the people on the basis of their
performance. Evidence can be taken from the Maslow hierarchy that employee who
passes the level of basic needs prefer self-esteem before reaching the final
level of Maslow hierarchy named as the self-actualization. it reflects that
there comes a point at the certain level of the career of an employee, where
that employee stops prioritizing the basic needs and monetary benefits because,
at that specific stage of his/her career, employees prefer working solely in
such organization here that are given respect, regard, and their self-esteem is
secured. in such circumstances, employees prefer supervisors and leaders rather
than the job or name of the organization while taking the decision of starting
a job
4.
Describe an example of a successful new employee orientation. Why are
employee needs an organization needs both important to consider?
Answer:
Successful employee orientation has significant
importance because it is important for both employees and organizations to
align their goals and objectives with each other and it is only possible f both
of these stakeholders are well aware of not only their own stakes but each
other stakes too so that in the future conflict of interests can be avoided
5. Why is it important to engage senior management
early in the process when preparing for a training initiative?
Answer:
It is important for senior management to engage in the
process because along with many other factors which can improve the training
process, one is the inspiration. if senior management will lead from the front
then this way they can set an example for employees to follow moreover the more
early the senior management will engage in process the more early it will
become aware of the potential goals of the training process along evaluation of this fact that is there
any defined in the training process or not so that proactive measures can be
taken by management before it gets too late
