Comparing Art of Salvador Dali, Rene
Magritte and Michael Parkes
Salvador Dali is
considered as the most popular representative of the surrealist movement
founded in Paris. He was well-known for his wild art. One of the famous work of
the Dali is “The Persistence of the memory”. Rene Magritte was also a surreal
artist from Belgian. He was very well-known and was deeply engaged with
literature (Bauduin, 2017) . His famous drawings
were related to famous poets such as Paul
Eluard. However, Michael Parkes is one of the leading realist and strong
lithographer. His work is collected by many celebrities and by the famous
galleries. His body of work stands for all ages.
Salvador Dali has used his moustache
as his signature which became the most influential pieces in history (Stiassny,
2018) .
Magritte chose the banal man-made objects and then used it to paint in a realistic style. There was a sort of
surrealistic effect created in the paintings of Magritte. However, the
paintings of Dali were more dreamlike, for example melting watches and morphing
bodies. However, the technique of Michael Parkes is more than artistic than previous artists. His imagination is much less
constricted. The art of Michael Parkes reminds us of a Victorian painter.
If we compare the work of
Dali and Magritte, then I will prefer the work of Magritte because he is more
realistic than Dali. Dali is a little bit showy and florid. However, he is a
great technician and created a lot of amazing paintings, but they were less
realistic. Moreover, the work Magritte gives a feeling of mystery. He used to
turn a normal scene that makes you curious
about our own personal perceptions of
reality. Then comes Michael Parkes, who has changed the real meaning of surrealism. I
love his skills and the textures he used to form such beautiful paintings.
