INTRODUCTION TO THE MUSICAL EVENT

I am an avid music listener who has developed his taste in a variety of music; diversifying from classical music on one extreme and rap music on the other. Based on my interest in music I have attended number of musical concerts; however, quite interestingly had never been able to attend any jazz concert. When I thought of attending a jazz music based concert as a part of my learning outcome; it was hard for me to choose the concert. I had never experienced Jazz previously and therefore I was unsure about what factors of jazz music would give me pleasure and exciting experience. Nevertheless, I decided to attend Ron Eschete Trio Concert featuring Jazz music because it was being held in the vicinity I currently dwell. With my first glanced at the event space my mind started comparing the atmosphere and ambiance of jazz music based concert with all the other I had attended so far. My derivative comparative analysis led me to realize that Ron Eschete Trio Concert had a scintillating atmosphere filled with soothing and mediating effects. The looks of it were indeed anticipating a great musical experience and I felt like wishing to spend as much time as possible over there.

OBSERVATION ABOUT THE MUSIC TYPE AND AUDIENCE

One thing that never eluded from my initial memory of the concert was the diversity among the audience. There weren’t too many people and there was no prevailing sense of crowding; instead, a diverse group of people from young children to senior citizens most of whom looking educated and seemly constituted the audience. The music been played was giving a relaxed and comfortable experience and I was astonished to absorb that many among audience were wearing casual dressing but the musicians were wearing classy suits which was reflecting the influence of African origin in the popularity of Jazz music. At that time I asked myself a question that how much I actually know about Jazz. Though I had never experienced jazz music in a live performance; nevertheless, I had briefly followed it on the internet and my previous experiences suggested jazz music to be rhythmic and instrumental form of music. I had once studied an article documenting the role of African American community in development and evolution of jazz music which supplemented my understanding that why jazz music contains long rhythms and often includes improvisation. I concluded that jazz music is complex in such a way that its aesthetic nature is easily noticeable but not necessarily understandable by everyone. The aforesaid pattern can also be observed in the life of many prominent African American figures; living a mysterious life in which hard work and compassion are not the only things.

OBSERVATION ABOUT THE MUSIC CONTENT AND PERFORMERS

When the concert was officially commenced we were asked to turn off our phones so that music performances would not be interrupted The concert management handed everyone in the audience an informal itinerary listing the content and sequence of musical concert. However, not every song was played there and there weren’t following the mentioned sequence we were having difficulty in determining which song was being played. The beauty of the performance was the combination of melodies which were unique and lively. The first song played was “In a Turkish Bath” and it was marvelously presented by lead guitarist. The body movements and enthusiasm of the performer that went along with the beats entertained everyone in the audience in such a way that many among audience started chanting and clapping indistinctly. The overall glimpse of the first performance was so much refreshing and pleasing as I had never seen anyone so much involved in playing guitar as this performer. Among the team of musicians dominating the stage; there was only one pianist and many saxophonists and trumpeters. However, the one pianist seemed most efficient than all other musicians because he hit every note on point with extreme precision and accuracy. At one time during the first performance one of the trumpeter had a thirty second long solo which was incredibly played and turned the overall level of the event from being conducive to being magnificent. He seemed to be living inside the song and the way his body moved with the melody was enjoyable was watch.
The second performance was a surprise choice and it was interesting to observe that all the musicians appeared properly prepared and ready to put in their best efforts. The way this group handled the surprise choice performance demonstrated their ability and command on playing music. Following the second performance, they played a famous hit titled: Santa Barbara Samba. It was an amazing music played beautifully by the musician team and involved concrete contributions from trombone, guitars and drums as well as piano. The beats in this selection were fast and I enjoyed each and every aspect of it as all the instruments had their own timbre.

CONCLUSION

At the end of concert I had a strong realization that jazz ensemble has the ability to flow deep within anyone as sitting there listening to the musical performance gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction. I feel that jazz music should be able to achieve greater level of well directed recognition. This experience remained extremely beneficial for me as it added depth to the course of my understanding and it was without any doubt more pleasurable and interesting than listening to the exact same performance on the internet. This event gave rise to an all-encompassing interest in jazz music and although I am not keenly interesting in pursuing my career there I shall for sure attend more live jazz concerts with the intention to expand my musical horizons.

Imperialism and colonialism are different kinds of ownership and authority but later on with the development in the history they merged with each other. Imperialism refers to as the policy of the state, their practice of authority and enforcement of law and power. It is an unjustified use of power and authority. Imperialism begins with late 1870’s and remain in practice till1914.It is vaguely depicted in the history of China and western Asia, and later on it continued in Persia. They treated their subjects in a nonconventional way. Russia, Japan, United States, Geramny and Italy turned into imperial states after World War I. After ten years of Its World War Nation League identify its bad impacts and suspended the use of imperialism temporary (Anthony, 2015). Legacies of imperialism in Africa were applied throughout the state but it has an updated effect of Europe as the Europeans had made many changes in the political system of Africa. They were not given their proper rights in politics. Their children were not given the right to study in the schools because Europeans has the fear that if Africans gets educated they would start ruling on us. Gradually they gained the administrative control and they import Africans as their lob ours. They gained hold on almost all the areas that are more productive. They hire missionaries as their assistants in the administrative work (Gregory, Bunton, Croizier, & Criozier, 2016). The African American sates follow the centralized system of authority. They followed the political system of one party system. They were very highly confined in doing their management affairs. A huge amount of resources are wasted by the colonial system. They weekend the economic systems of African and decreased their interaction with other countries (Graeme, 2019).

Jazz residency with experts

Performance observation:

A residency was planned at 29 April, around 9:30 AM, which was aimed to provide students with a sitting with experts of Jazz and percussion, that will help them in learning more about the percussion and their use to make their music better. In that residency, Rusty Burge was the guest. He was one of the faculty members of CCM, along with him James Leslie was also part of that residency, he also has the title of residency, he is the one who has performed in more than hundred events of Jazz and percussion. This residence was beneficial for students to learn the insights and other important things about these musical instruments along with regarding key points.
Music played in this residence was a related to jazz form, most of the tunes played in this residence was old traditional tunes but there were some performances by students which they develop by themselves that tune named Love is all there is. Guest of residence Rusty Burge also played his tune which he developed recently. Musical instruments used in this segment were a bass drum, cymbal, piano, guitar, saxophone and xylophone. The texture of music was heterophony, many instruments were used in their performances and all these parts were elaborating on same melodies, which improvise the exact tone and gives a combination of different sounds which feels good collectively and gives an astonishing feel to attendees.
Overall performance was very good, notes used by the experts and their style told a lot about minor details of jazz and percussion instruments. The musicians seem to be very skilled they were not only plying the music for the audience but equally enjoying their job which made their performance more captivating. The skills of playing and handling instruments were really good. The performance was both informative and enjoyable for the audience. Aside from the instruments and tunes, the singing skills were also exceptional. Overall performance was quite melodies, as most of the performers were masters in their fields. Which provides a good outlook for the whole concert.
Every performer at that residence was following an accurate gesture and behaviour throughout the event, their body language was accurate and their style was very inspiring, most important thing is that every performer was enjoying his own tunes, which was adding the sense to their music. Every performer was in total fluency of their tune, which was due to their routine and discipline in which they are mastered, this shows to students that following rules of discipline and learning all keys of Jazz both in language and instruments will be helpful in delivering the best tunes which will be enjoyable for the audience as well.
In the class, we learn brief knowledge about jazz music. The jazz era is considered to be very important in American music history. Jazz music is a bridge that somehow connects the black and white cultures of America. The jazz era began around 1920 and brought joy to the people on some extent because it was the time when the world was experiencing after war impacts. The jazz music movement mainly occurred among American African musicians; it was the time when the cultural difference has divided the population. Jazz music is different from other forms of music and it can be recognized with the certain toe-tapping beat and different solo instruments such as trumpet, saxophone and so on. Jazz music has a great impact on the cinematic world, many plots of movies such as Jazz by Ken Burns revolve around the emergence of Jazz and how it has eliminated cultural differences on some extent.
Jazz is the kind of music which has been popular among people from ages. The modern music trends change rapidly from classic to rape and so on. It was started in the early 29th century and still, there is a large number of people who appreciate it. I observe this fact very fascinating that jazz is transforming from traditional to modern but the basics are the same. In the event, the musicians played a number of tradition/ modern composed tunes while the guest also presents the original composition. Which was as captivating as the other ones, all generation perceive this certain kind of music in their own way and the legacy of jazz shift from one era to another
For me, jazz residency was an exceptional experience, there was so much to learn. Professionals jazz musicians played beautiful tunes and grab the attention of the audience. It was a great chance for students to learn not only about the music but also the facts that that can improve the skills of students. However, such activities must be organized in vast space such as the auditorium and so on. The jazz instruments are huge and in congested place, it becomes too hard to observe the skills.
All in all, that idea of organizing the residency was very effective as it helps a lot in learning the technicalities of percussions and other related information about jazz, experts provide the best information which will contribute in effective learning. Musical performances were very melodious so the scenario was joyful, every performer was showing mastery in his work, their gestures and way they were enjoying their work were quite influencing. The overall style which followed in this residence was heterophony, which provides a combination of different notes in the same melody and that helps in learning that how this mastery can be achieved to attract and satisfy the listeners and calm their musical cravings.

All the titles such as “King of Swing” and” King of Jazz” are given to White People.Black people did not gained any title.
Jazz music had a great effect in the cultural and social patterns of the Americans Africans in the history. It had both positive and negative impacts on both social and cultural lives of the people. Jazz music had great contribution in the history, recognized the Black people and provides new ways to flourish to the Americans.
This topic was selected because it helped in understanding the struggle of Blacks. Imperialism and colonialism are almost similar type of authority but there were a few differences among them. The black people remained as slaves from many generations. They faced racial discrimination in the continent. In my opinion they must be given their social and moral rights of being humans must. They suffered a lot in history due to their black color. Africans were the innovators of Jazz music. They worked too much in the world of music but they were deprived of their right to be recognized in the field of music. White Americans copied their music style and win many titles and rewards that were the right of Black Africans.
