Geography,

Short Summary:

In this video, there is a description regarding the geography, history, natives, religion, culture etc. regarding the African Country. Many successful phases occurred in its history of development like Akhenaton period, Taharqa period, Mansa Musa period, Shaka Zulu and Muwalimu Julius Nyerere. Its major population lives in villages, and its famous cities are Timbuktu, Kano, and Nairobi. There is a description regarding the agricultural land and its fertility in Africa and how it impacts the farmer’s standard of life. In the geographical areas, Africa is based on two parts of the land, one is forest, and the other is full of deserts. The forest is continuously shrinking due to unproductive rainfalls, so it becomes difficult for the farmer to cultivate the higher crops with good quality. All the cultivation in the colonial areas is transferred to the European factories and market so most of the farmer cannot use their crops for their own purpose. The wild life is also badly affected due to the industrialization; their major cash crop is tea. But in the international market, there is a great fluctuation of its prices that create drought in Africa. In Kenya, the government giving different facilities like irrigation, credit and fertilizers to the farmers in order to increase the productivity of crops; and also giving land to the farmers for increasing productivity. These people are different from American in case of living standards, culture, religion, norms and technology.

Issue:

This video portrays the helpless situation of the African farmer who works harder than any European or American citizen, but still, now he is unable to fulfil his basic need for food. In this video, there are many issues like forest shrinking, unproductive rainfall, ecologically damaging, price fluctuation of tea crop in international market and drought in Africa. But the major issue which is faced by most of the farmer is the lack of proper distribution of resources like in Africa, there are small family farmers who work in their small farms, and all of their production is transferred to the European factories and market. There is also a discussion on the drought factor in these areas; that when they do not earn money from their cash crop in the international market, then most of the people do not fulfil their basic need. Because the European market consumes all of their cultivated food and in this case, the Kenya government cannot do anything, instead of making the product promotion strategy for increasing the cultivation.

There also an ecological damaging occurs in the Eastern and Southern area Africa because the powerful countries want to increase the fertility of the land and used this land for their own profit margin. That’s the reason most of the African does not see big animals like elephants, zebras and another one in these places. These are only available in the big game areas which again give profit to the industrialist. In short, we can say that the African land, men, women, children and animals, all are busy to serve the industrialist and forget their basic rights and purpose of life. Actually, there is also an issue regarding portraying the misperception regarding the Africans in the mind of the people through social media. They believe in creating a good relationship with the other people of the world, but unfortunately, they are not giving attention as they deserved. That’s the reason that most of the people do not know about African who have 157 countries on the earth globe.

Conclusion:

After considering all the issues in Africa, it is concluded that there is the negligence of the media which portrays the poor picture of African countries. They have gold, but still, their people suffer from drought. This is due to the enforcement of external powers that mould African farmers according to their desires. There is a lack of awareness among the people regarding their basic need. They have the power to overcome this situation by establishing new projects that utilized its resources in a more effective way. There is also a need to make a proper cultivation system like proper funding, fertilizers, machinery, and irrigation system and most importantly fulfil the need of African farmer so that he becomes able to work in the stress-free environment. There is also a need to overcome the ecological damages.

Instructions Immigration

b) From what ethnic backgrounds/countries are the majority of the people in your community?

C) What were some of the reasons people from different background/countries came to your community?

D) How did the people from these different ethnic backgrounds/cultures influence the community?

E) What visible evidence of the cultures these people came from exists in the community today (celebrations, traditions, architecture)?

F) Were there large groups of people from other ethnic backgrounds/countries who came to the community and have since left? Why did they come and go?

You will write a brief report addressing, at a minimum, the questions above and incorporating at least two theories; concepts or terms from chapter 1, 3, and/or chapter 5. Each concept used should be defined either from directly from the brain or paraphrased and cited properly. Each report must be typed double spaced (minimum 3 “full” pages) using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. It will include proper citation and your personal insight. You should use Headers or Footers. Additionally, the margins should be no more than ½ all the way around (basically what I have here). The font size should be Arial, 12 pitch.

Introduction

Immigration is related to the relocation of ethnic groups and societies to specific countries. The man objective of this activity is to integrate into a multicultural environment and adopt a new culture and signs for the community. This concept regarding Ethnocentrism strictly speaks regarding the immigration process. This report will analyze the Mexican and Arab groups in response to the community.

Body

Ethnic backgrounds

My community represents Mexican as well as Arabs as the two profound communities. These communities have remained for a long period and have adjusted themselves to norms and lifestyles of my community. Arab came from different part of the world. Their major influence was to get a free space for living and adopt the customs of the host country. Mexican is the second populated community present in the context (W.Neuliep).

Ethnic backgrounds of the majority of people in the community

Majority of people are connected with the Mexican ethnic groups. This is because my community has an attraction towards the Mexican food and cultures.

Reasons for people to join a community

Most of the people have found living in the country and environment is also balanced to suit the majority. The houses are built on the base of the spacious design. This can accommodate large families and cost of noodles and vegetables is less as compared in Mexico. Another important fact for immigration is the political instability and civil war present in the Mexican borders. This has focused the community to immigrate from the home country and find a place in my setting (Suh, An and Forest).

Another reason is freedom present in my community. It was observed that Mexican as well Arabs had difficulty for live as well religious trends and holidays. The country environment was also populated with the increasing burden of the population. Moreover, the employment chances were also decreasing for the local person. My community provided an easy solution to the needs of people. This is because work regarding food and packaging materials was evident and it required new people from different ethnic backgrounds. The community also had a space of education. This attracted people from the community to shift and migrate to my country (Chand and Schreckhise). The people also welcomed Mexican as well as Arabs to settle and adopt the environment.

My community also had a well-developed accommodation for different ethnic groups. Our customers and traditions also match with fellow Mexican. When the people migrated to our small groups, it was also decided to manage the holidays and cultural event of minors in order to project and provide full confidence regarding the community.

Literature can also be related to the concept of immigration. One of the important areas is centred with the concept of Ethnocentrism. This defines the idea that a culture is perceived to be the centre of all the activities and every sort of information is referred to in a similar context. The ethnic groups related to Mexican as well Arabs can be compared with the concept as the culture forms the area of bonding.

Cross culture differences were also an important concept for the community. It is defined as the changes in the physical environment which affect the people as well the genetic difference. Our society does have the cross-culture difference, but it managed the ethical groups in a positive way (Suh, An and Forest).

The influence of different ethnic backgrounds on the community

As Mexicans and Arabs are in my community, the majority of the Mexicans speak Spanish as well as other languages like Nahuatl and Mayan, while Arab immigrants speak Arabic. This affects the communication of my community as opening a void for communication gap. Many people are not able to respond to their language which influences communication.

The lifestyle of Arabs and Mexicans is very different as compared to my community. People find it interesting of the various meals they eat and their clothing while some of the community finds it strange when looking at their unique lifestyle.

 Celebrations and Traditions

As the community of Arab belongs to Muslim religion there are many traditions as well as celebrations exists in my community, the well-known is Eid al-Fitr which is celebrated by Arabs at the end of Ramadan and Eid Al-Adha is celebrated at the 10th of oil-haj where they use to give zakat, wear new clothes and prepare their unique dishes. Part of my community enjoys their new and unique celebration while part of the community does not like to celebrate or share the spotlight with them (Firdous, 2019).

The Mexicans also celebrate their traditions in my community which are being identified. Celebrations like Dia de Los Reyes Magos in which presents exchanges and their traditional meals are prepared and given to the families, Carnival in which they wear spectacular dresses, dancing and drinking occur for many days, and Dia de la Candelaria which is celebrated after 40 days of the birth of Jesus. It is a religious holiday. There are many others being celebrated (Meeke, 2016).

 Communities that came and go

There were many communities came and went like Irish and Africans. The reason they left was that they faced many racism and hatred speeches regarding their lifestyles and communications, resulting in an environment hard to live in.

Conclusion

It was found from the immigration that ethnic groups from Mexico, as well as Arab, were present as the immigrated community. This has made a strategic connection with the community and cross-culture difference have been resolved for the people. The lifestyles as well celebration of people acts as a positive setting for the people.
